Meet The Team
John’s distinguished career in the financial services industry has been achieved by putting his clients’ interest first, developing and maintaining strong relationships, and by investing clients’ money to achieve their individualized financial objectives.
During the difficult financial times in 1972, John began his career in Shearson Hammill and joined Dean Witter in 1975. In addition to being a Financial Advisor with Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley, John held a number of management jobs with Dean Witter, including Branch Manager, Regional Sales Manager Southwest, Regional Director for the Southwest region and National Sales Director with responsibility for the entire branch system in the United States and Canada. John joined Wells Fargo in 2005 after 30 years with Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley where he held a management position as well as continued to manage and grow his extensive individual and institutional clientele.
John joined US Capital Advisors as a Senior Managing Director for the Dix Sampson Consulting Group where he directs investment strategies and money management programs to help our institutional and affluent clients meet their financial goals.
Born and raised in San Antonio, John has lived and worked in several markets including New York, San Antonio, Tulsa, Lubbock and Dallas which has been his home for the last 26 years. In 1972, he received his Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas, Austin, Texas.
John supports several charitable organizations in Dallas, and serves on the board of the Father of the Year Foundation.
John and his wife, Jackie, have six children; Kathy, Kara, Brooke, Elizabeth, Olivia, Trey; and seven grandchildren: Harry, Auden, Olivia, Anna, Della, John Holt and Luke. Outside of the office, John and his family enjoy traveling and their home in Upstate New York. John is an avid golfer.
Karee H. Sampson has developed keen insight into the strategic and tactical strategies needed to position clients for long-term success in an increasingly-complex financial world. As a senior member of the Dix Sampson Consulting Group of US Capital Advisors, Karee is a dedicated consultant to select individuals, families, trusts and institutions in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and throughout the country, Karee focuses on each client’s unique financial concerns to custom-tailor strategies and portfolio construction to reflect their individual needs and risk tolerance.
Offering a consistent blend of investment advice and personal service, Karee assists clients by defining clear investment objectives based on detailed analysis of their current financial and legacy needs. As a senior member of the Dix Sampson Consulting Group, she provides in-depth portfolio analysis, develops asset allocation and tax-efficient financial strategies, oversees fixed income portfolio construction and manager selection for equity and income portfolios, and evaluates a platform of alternative investments for our institutional and affluent clients.
Her comprehensive discipline extends to the critical aspects of investment management focusing on risk management, capital preservation, trusts, estate planning, investment planning and wealth transfer for high net worth families.
With over 30 years of experience in Financial Services, Karee joined US Capital Advisor as a Managing Director of the Dix Sampson Consulting Group. Her past experience included, 22 years with Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter where she was Vice President of Investments and 10 years with Wells Fargo Advisors as a senior member of the wealth management group. She holds a bachelor of science in economics from the University of Utah.
Karee is actively involved with several non-profit organizations, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Community Partners of Dallas, serves on the Estate Planning council of UT Southwestern Medical Center, and serves on the board of the Jim and Joanie Hatcher Charitable Trust.
Karee and her husband, Greg, have two children; Emily, who lives and works in New Orleans, and Natalie, who attends the University of Southern California.

A 20 year industry veteran, Robin C. Austin has had a successful career helping clients navigate difficult markets and helping achieving their goals. She began her career as a Financial Consultant with Merrill Lynch in 1994, soon transitioning to Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley working closely with John Dix for over 8 years. In 2005, Robin joined Wells Fargo as a Senior Registered Client Associate and eventually an Associate Financial Advisor.
At US Capital Advisors, Robin supports the Dix Sampson Consulting Group with client acquisition, financial and portfolio analysis and client presentations. She works directly with clients to identify financial and cash flow needs, risk tolerance, and to develop a clear understanding of their composite and often complex financial picture. She also supports fixed income planning, portfolio rebalancing, trading execution and the coordination of annuities, retirement plans, and 529 college savings plans.
Robin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls and was a member of the Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity. In her spare time, Robin is involved with several organizations in Southlake and Grapevine, Texas. She coaches youth sports and is an active volunteer with the Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange (GRACE). She is a member of the Southlake Executive Forum, the Carroll Leadership Academy for Supporting Success, one of the Strategic Planning Action Teams of Southlake Carroll ISD and is on the board of the Carroll Education Foundation.
Robin and her husband, Travis, have two daughters. Together, they enjoy traveling, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Courtney began her career as a Financial Advisor with Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. 20 years ago in Austin,Texas. Courtney moved back to Dallas in 1994 and began working at Bear Stearns & Co. gaining experience with Compliance and Management responsibilities and license to her resume. In 1999 she transferred to Prudential Securities, which eventually became Wells Fargo Advisors. She has worked with the Dix Sampson team since 2005 and has become an integral part of the group. As a testament to her unwavering commitment to outstanding client service, Courtney has been recognized and awarded a Distinguished Service Award 3 times in the past 10 years..
As an integral part of the Dix Sampson Consulting Group as a Senior Registered Associate, Associate Director of U.S. Capital Advisors, Courtney is responsible for account maintenance and meeting compliance requirements for the group and works with clients regarding all aspects of their accounts. She assists the group’s Financial Advisors with equity and bond trading. As an ongoing daily practice, Courtney inputs and adjusts client requested stop loss orders and assists the group with portfolio re-balancing. She also supports the coordination of syndicate trading.
A native of Dallas, Courtney graduated from Baylor University, where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration Marketing. While at Baylor, she was a competitive water-skier.
Courtney has one son, Clay, who attends the Episcopal School of Dallas. She is highly involved with Clay’s sports teams including soccer, football and lacrosse. Courtney and Clay both support Helping Our Heroes, Community Partners of Dallas and the Joanie Hatcher Breast Cancer Survivors Symposium. Together, they enjoy hiking, water skiing and spending time with their two German Shepherds.
